from beth:
Step 1: Put your MP3 player or whatever on random.
Step 2: Post the first line from the first 20 songs that play, no matter how embarrassing the song.
Step 3: Post and let everyone you know guess what song and artist the lines come from.
1. i can't imagine all the people that you know and the places that you go

a couple hints:
one (unofficial) national anthem
two songs share a title
three covers
four scots (i've been on a scottish kick lately)
five (at least) artists are younger than me
i don't have that many songs on my itunes since i mostly listen to cds (cds? what are those?), but i do have my entire oasis collection on there, so i had to filter out most of the oasis songs, otherwise they'd make up half the list. :-)
have fun.

world cup 2006
holy crap. i think usa drew the toughest group. england's got it rough, too. if scolari and portugal take them in the quarters again...there'll be hell to pay. the british ambassador to germany asked england fans to "embrace germany" [article]. yeah, right. and to think there's still six months to go before the action starts.

the new ball adidas made for the games, which has gotten glowing reviews from players. better response, truer flight...you'd think after playing a game for a century or so that the ball would be pretty much fixed, but apparently not.

the arena aufschalke in gelsenkirchen. that's a retractable pitch. cool, eh?

(cal fullba-, i mean quarterback, steve) levy's parents, mark and angela, were in the crowd on his father's birthday.
"i called him thursday and told him i was starting at quarterback," levy said. "he started bawling and crying. i told him, 'now i'm going to give you a better birthday present. i'm going to win the big game for you.'"
i wouldn't say he won the *entire* game for us, because that distinction probably goes to our defense - eight straight big game quarters without a stanfurd touchdown. but whatevers. it's about the team. beating stanfurd. keeping the axe at its rightful home - berkeley.

the first (and winning) touchdown. extra point was blocked, but it didn't matter.

view of the crowd from our seats in the southeast end. can't really tell from the pictures, but we outnumbered them. given the bowl implications for stanfurd, i'm surprise the game wasn't sold out.

ending the season on a high note. i just hope we don't end up in the sun bowl. not that i don't like el paso...it's just that phoenix is closer.

the picture says it all. 27-3. (don't ask me why the clock says 14:12. stanfurdites can't tell time.)

happy campers.
with man city drawing yesterday morning and the raiders winning earlier today, it's been a pretty good weekend for football. now if only the lakers hadn't lost to the friggin *clippers* on friday.
